"How do you teach your teacher a different way to teach"

So recently my art teacher Mrs. Rose has been bringing her guitar to school and has been learning how to play by students showing her chords and such. So one day last week i was watching her learn the chords and it made me feel upset a little bit. The reason why it made me feel that way is because she was making it look so easy. I've had my guitar sitting in my closet for 2 years because every time i would try and learn i would just get so frustrated and give up. But she then said to me "why don't we learn together?". This made me feel happy again because now I am learning with her. She was my motivation for me to learn, so i thank her for that.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could reply back to this question: "How do you teach your teacher a different way to teach?" Here is Mrs. Rose's blog post about this.  My opinion on that question is its very difficult to for a teacher to teach things different ways. I myself have personally st...

Who decides if you are an artist?

Something that I love most is technology. I have my phone with me 24/7 and am always on it pretty much. The way technology has evolved is crazy. Well so has the way art is shared as well. Like my art teacher Mrs. Rose has said in her recent blog post ( https://storify.com/ColleenKR/who-decides-if-you-are-an-artist ), art is now shown over social media such as Instagram, Facebook, twitter etc. You do not have to physically see the artwork now in a gallery, but over technology. How cool is that? My opinion on sharing your artwork over social media is much more effective because more and more people can view it. I think its awesome.  This question "Would you post your art on the internet or not?" gives me mixed signals because for one: I would love to share my art over the internet, but the downfall of that would be other people trying to steal your picture of your art unless you put your name on it somewhere. (copyright) I absolutely love the idea about collaborating wit...

Response to "But Is It Art?"

Image
After viewing Doug's blog post about cubism, I really wanted to try it myself. So here is my attempt! I choose to do 200 points. Just so Doug knows.. I am a student in Mrs. Roses art class. All in all I think that it is a great idea to think about.

The Art Assignment

I find the art assignments videos actually really neat. At first I was thinking to myself "well that's easy, anyone can do that".. but then in the video when they said something along the lines of "its the objects YOU choose to use that makes it so special". That's where I find it pretty cool. Overall what I think about the art assignment and what they are doing is awesome. They are allowing anyone to be involved in making art videos and sending it to them or if you tag them in it and there is no due date. You can do it all on your own time and send it whenever. That's what I like. I have yet to watch more of their videos. But heres the video that my art teacher Mrs. Rose showed to my class today and this is what my opinion is on. ( here is also their website link)

#ScratchAndMixProject

My first impressions on the scratch and mix project is they artists works are very different then what you would normally think "art" is. When you ask random people "What is art?", their reply is most likely going to be painting, drawing or sculpting. But when you really read about each of these artists each of them tell a different story through art. Some even write poetry. When reading through this post from my art teacher,  http://mrsroseart.blogspot.ca/2015/04/scratchandmix.html . My opinion at first when I viewed some of the people artworks was that it was different from what I normally see. Its not just your average portrait, landscape painting and much more. It means more to them than that. That's the beauty of art.. When you see it and read their story it send different emotions that run through you. I am proud of what all these artists are showing the world.

Art Series

Image
So now that my first part to my art series is done with, its time to move onto the next project. So for my next one i have decided to go to Michael's and buy a small square canvas to put the QR code to my mental health video that I made. I have already bought a big canvas for my second idea which this small one is linked with it. I have not yet made up my mind on what i want to do with such a big canvas because I really want to use my space wisely. Maybe by having a lot of empty space on it, it could be a message to others when they see it. For now i want to incorporate the quote "If mental illness could be seen on a sufferer, maybe society wouldn't say "just get over it". I'm still trying to think of ideas to add on all the other space. Any ideas are welcome! If you havent already seen this short video thats been played on tv, please take a look at it. It really helps you see that anyone, and i mean anyone can have a mental disorder.

So, I'm hoping that my video will raise at least a little bit awareness. Coming from a small town doesn't mean that my video wont be noticed.. I'm happy to have thought, made and finished the video which is mainly dedicated to my wonderful sister who suffers from a mental disorder. Its time to make a stand and stop the stigma. I love my sister with all my heart and she is my twin and my other half. I don't know what I would ever do without you. Keep on staying strong Victoria!! The reason for this post is to go along with my video and one day Id like Clara Hughes to respond back to me in some way to know that validation for my sister that there is help, there is more people like her out there and things will get better.
